Ukraine's demand for new passenger cars increases slightly in Oct - Ukravtoprom

MOSCOW. Nov 1 (Interfax) - Primary registration of new cars in Ukraine grew by 1% in October 2024 compared to the same month in the previous year, reaching over 5,800 cars, Ukrainian media outlets said with a reference to Ukravtoprom.

A slight growth of 2% was also recorded in comparison with September 2024, Ukravtoporm said.

The leader of the new passenger car market in October was Renault with 775 registered vehicles, having outperformed the traditional favorite Toyota, and the now second Toyota accounted for 679 cars sold.

Skoda was ranked third with 402 cars, followed by BMW with 397 cars and Volkswagen with 363 cars.

The Renault Duster compact SUV was the Ukrainian market's bestseller of the month once again with 749 cars sold.

According to Ukravtoprom, 58,800 new passenger cars were registered in Ukraine in January-October, which is 19% more than in the same period of 2023.

As reported, since the beginning of the year, about 5,700-5,800 new passenger cars were registered every month in Ukraine, however, instances of registration drastically increased in July-August amid rumors of a new military duty of 15% for consumers, and, in particular, the growth to 8,100 registrations was recorded in August.

However, in September, when it was already known that this tax was scrapped, the market predictable returned to 5,700 registered passenger cars.

As reported, citing the data of the Ukravtoprom association, initial registrations of new passenger cars in Ukraine in 2023 rose 60.6% year-on-year to almost 61,000 cars.
