Georgia held legitimate parliamentary elections - PM
TBILISI. Nov 1 (Interfax) - The Georgian parliamentary elections of October 26 were clean and the Georgian authorities are ready to prove that, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said.
"Everyone should accept the fact that Georgia is an independent state governed by its legislation. We are completely open to those who want to see for themselves that our elections were clean," Kobakhidze said on the Imedi television channel.
The preliminary report of the election monitoring mission from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe's Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR) is generally positive, he said.
"There have been a lot of statements here and abroad regarding the OSCE/ODIHR report, which did not call our elections fair and free, however, this organization does not use such terms in its reports. The main thing is that the OSCE/ODIHR mission report is generally positive. International observers openly called the elections legitimate at a press conference," Kobakhidze said.
