Kiev believes Ukraine's joining PHIS system to accelerate agricultural exports
MOSCOW. Oct 31 (Interfax) - The government of Ukraine decided to implement the ePhyto system and connect the automated Phytosanitary Inspection System (PHIS) to The HUB electronic phytosanitary certification exchange system last week, Ukrainian media said citing the European Business Association (EBA).
"Ukraine is on the right track toward global digitalization of agri-food products and paperless trade. Many countries have already transitioned from paper-based to electronic phytosanitary certificates by joining the IPPC ePhyto Solution," the EBA said.
The EBA expressed confidence that the transition to paperless trade using digital instruments such as ePhyto will help Ukrainian exporter agribusinesses to increase the efficiency of grain and oilseed trade logistics by reducing the time and costs of obtaining paper phytosanitary certificates.
"The exchange of phytosanitary certificates electronically through the global hub will facilitate timely monitoring of goods movement and prevent delays during customs clearance in the importing country," the EBA said.
