Poland worries Ukraine's agricultural sector may jeopardize EU's agricultural industry
MOSCOW. Oct 30 (Interfax) - Agriculture may become a problem between Ukraine and Poland in the context of Ukraine's accession to the European Union, Ukrainian media quoted Polish President Andrzej Duda as saying in an interview with the Catholic television channel Trwam.
"Ukraine has a powerful agriculture and, beyond any doubt, the problem of Ukrainian agriculture, if we are generally talking about Ukraine's accession to the European Union, requires detailed analysis, discussion and a special European policy in this context," Duda said.
Ukraine's agricultural sector is "so powerful" that it could even "jeopardize agriculture in its current form of the entire European Union," he said.
When asked whether Poland should be less enthusiastic about Ukraine's EU membership, Duda said that Ukraine's membership in the EU and NATO is in Poland's national interest. He also said that Western Europe would be mostly concerned about this issue.
