U.S. expands anti-Russian sanctions list with hundreds of entities, dozens of individuals
WASHINGTON. Oct 30 (Interfax) - The authorities of the United States imposed new anti-Russian sanctions targeting over 30 individuals and more than 360 legal entities on Wednesday, the U.S. Department of the Treasury said.
Sanctions target, in particular, Russian companies and enterprises linked to the defense industry, design bureaus and research institutes. They are, among others, KB Atamanova, Konstruktorskoe Byuro Valkiriya, Aviaavtomatika, Opytno-Konstruktorskoe Byuro Pribor, ISON Orbital Dynamics, and the Scientific Research Institute of Organic Technologies, Inorganic Chemistry and Biotechnology.
The list includes Kazanskii Zavod Sinteticheskogo Kauchuka, AO Chip&Dip, the Tula-based Center for Unmanned Systems, AO Kolomensky Zavod, the 18th Specialized Technological Construction Bureau of the Russian Navy, the 51st Central Design and Technological Institute for Ship Repair, the Company Research and Production Association Volna, and Zavod Iskra.
Unmanned Technologies of Mordovia, NTC Arsenal, Russkaya Laboratoriya Vozdushnogo Transporta, and the Moscow Aviation Institute were also sanctioned.
Sanctions also target the Russian Academy of Rocket and Artillery Sciences, the Institute for System Programming of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Ishlinsky Institute of Problems of Mechanics of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
In addition to the Russian companies, sanctions were also imposed on foreign legal entities from China, Turkey, Switzerland, Uzbekistan, India, and Thailand, among other countries.
Sanctions target suppliers of technologies and goods for the Russian defense industry and counter the circumvention of previously imposed restrictions, the Department of the Treasury said.
"The United States and our allies will continue to take decisive action across the globe to stop the flow of critical tools and technologies that Russia needs," the Department of the Treasury quoted Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo as saying.
