Ukrgazvydobuvannya uses dual string completion method to boost gas well flow rate 2.4-fold

MOSCOW. Oct 30 (Interfax) - Ukrgazvydobuvannya (UGV) has used the dual string completion method to boost the daily flow rate of a gas well 2.4-fold from 70,000 to 170,000 cubic meters, Ukrainian media reported, quoting a company press release.

UGV chief Sergei Lagno put the project's success down to analysis of the field's geological model, a detailed assessment of all risks and the preparation of a set of effective well intervention measures.

"After that, we decided to increase gas production with a dual string completion layout and specialized well completion equipment. This made it possible to bring another horizon into development and increase gas production at this well," he said.

UGV started to use the dual string completion method at the beginning of this year. Wells commissioned by this method will yield more than 50 million cubic meters of additional gas by the end of the year.

UGV raised commercial gas production 6.5% year-on-year in January-September 2024 to 10.4 billion cubic meters and liquid hydrocarbon output 26% to 372,000 tonnes. It produced 13.224 bcm of commercial gas in 2023, up 679 mcm from 2022.

Naftogaz owns 100% of UGV.
