Ukrainian energy sector to be struggling in winter - Ukrenergo
MOSCOW. Oct 30 (Interfax) - Ukrenergo is preparing for several possible scenarios in the upcoming winter, which will be one of the most challenging in the past three years, Ukrainian media said, citing acting Ukrenergo CEO Alexei Brekht as telling Suspilne TV in an interview.
The worst-case scenario is damage to infrastructure, transmission networks, generation facilities and so on, Brekht said.
Ukraine lost 9GW generation capacities in winter, he said, adding there were plans to restore them.
In the worst-case scenario and with the availability of current electricity import amounts, Ukraine may limit power supply on critical, cold days for up to two lines in blackout schedules, i.e. eight hours, Brekht said.
