Ukrainian power grid operator reports electricity shortages

MOSCOW. Oct 29 (Interfax) - While power consumption in Ukraine has lately decreased owing to sunny weather in most parts of the country, there have still been electricity shortages during morning and evening hours in the past few days, the national power grid operator Ukrenergo said on its social account on Tuesday.

Power consumption on Tuesday morning was 3.4% lower than on Monday, and the daily consumption peak recorded on Monday evening was approximately the same as on the previous working day, Friday, October 25, it said.

"The power system still experiences capacity shortages during morning and evening consumption peaks. Please use powerful electric appliances between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.," it said.

Ukraine plans to import slightly more than 4,000 MW/h of electricity from Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, and Moldova on Tuesday, which is roughly the same amount it imported on Monday.

Specialists have restored power supply to 4,827 customers over the past 24 hours, the Energy Ministry said.
