KazMunayGas, CNPC subsidiary to carry out oil and gas exploration projects in west Kazakhstan

ALMATY. Oct 28 (Interfax) - KazMunayGas (KMG) and China National Oil and Gas Exploration and Development Company Ltd. (CNODC), a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), have signed a confidentiality agreement and a plan for joint geological exploration in the eastern part of the Caspian basin in the Aktobe region, KMG said in a press release.

The document was signed in Kyzylorda during the second technical seminar on geological exploration and oil recovery of the oil fields.

"Following joint studies, the parties will identify areas for geological exploration," the press release says.

KazMunayGas is Kazakhstan's national operator for exploration, production, processing and transportation of hydrocarbons. The company represents the state interests in the oil and gas sector of Kazakhstan.
