Republika Srpska president counting on closer cooperation with BRICS
ROME. Oct 28 (Interfax) - Republika Srpska, part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, will ask for the federal parliament's consent with closer cooperation with BRICS, the RTRS television and radio broadcaster said on Sunday.
"We are planning to ask the parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina for consent, so that we could apply for deeper involvement in the BRICS work," RTRS quoted Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik as saying.
The constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina gives such a right to Republika Srpska, but it still needs consent of the federal parliament, RTRS said.
BRICS does not target anyone, either the EU or any other group or state, Dodik said.
In turn, Republika Srpska member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zeljka Cvijanovic said, "Bosnia and Herzegovina should be with the EU, but this does not rule out interaction with BRICS, which unlocks opportunities for new ties and economic cooperation."
This is why Dodik attended the BRICS summit in Kazan and met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, RTRS said.
