Donors provide energy equipment worth 10.5 mln euros to Ukraine in Sept 2024 - ministry
MOSCOW. Oct 25 (Interfax) - International donors' aid for the Ukrainian energy sector in September 2024 prioritized equipment transfers to bolster Ukraine's power generation system and cover local municipal utilities' urgent needs ahead of the start of the heating season.
"Five countries offered their technical assistance to Ukraine last month alone. Equipment worth approximately 10.5 million euros was provided. It is being promptly distributed in accordance with the requests and needs of recipients in Ukrainian regions," Ukrainian media quoted the Energy Ministry as saying in a statement.
Ukraine has been receiving energy equipment, including transformers and materials for repairs and reconstruction, from its partners, the ministry said.
In order to continue receiving humanitarian aid, the Energy Ministry is using the AidEnergy online platform, a "one-stop-shop" service for collecting and updating information and notifying donors of recipients' needs, it said. It also forms and confirm donors' offers and is responsible for humanitarian aid distribution and accountability.
In addition, the parties are implementing projects backed by the European Community Humanitarian Aid Office, which is the European Commission's department for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations. This EU institution promptly responds to Ukraine needs in additional generators, cogeneration systems and other equipment to enhance the energy efficiency and resilience of the country's unified energy system.
Since the start of the crisis, Ukraine has received 19,200 tonnes of humanitarian aid from 36 countries to maintain the stabile operations of its energy system.
