Portfolio state guarantee loans rose 38% in volume, 25% in number in Sept - Ukrainian Finance Ministry

MOSCOW. Oct 24 (Interfax) - Ukrainian banks issued 841 loans under the program for state guarantees on a portfolio basis in September, exceeding the August figure by 164 loans, or 25%, totaling UAH 2.9 billion in volume, up 38% from the previous month, Ukrainian media reported, quoting the Finance Ministry's website.

State-guaranteed principal debt liabilities amounted to UAH 1.6 billion, down from UAH 1.1 billion a month earlier.

"A total of 40,240 loans for UAH 128.5 billion have been issued to micro, small and medium businesses in Ukraine since state guarantees on a portfolio basis were introduced in December 2020," the ministry said.

As of October 1, 2024, a total of 31 banks were servicing almost 20,700 loans for UAH 71.5 billion. Principal debt liabilities, partially backed by state guarantees on a portfolio basis, amounted to UAH 32.2 billion, or about 62% of the total limit of guarantees provided, which was UAH 51.7 billion.

Privatbank led by the number of loans serviced under state guarantees on a portfolio basis as of October 1 with 14,100 loans for UAH 23.1 billion, or 65% of the limit of such guarantees provided to the bank. Oschadbank came second with 2,780 loans for UAH 11.1 billion (55% of the bank's limit), then Ukrgasbank with 961 loans for UAH 10.2 billion (72%), FUIB with 622 loans for UAH 6.2 billion (59%) and Ukreximbank with 412 loans for UAH 5.9 billion (55% of the limit).

The second five by loans serviced were ProCredit Bank - 523 loans for UAH 3.23 billion, Raiffeisen Bank - 245 loans for almost UAH 1.9 billion, OTP Bank - 312 loans for almost UAH 1.82 billion, Credit Dnepr Bank - 156 loans for UAH 1 billion and Vostok Bank - 36 loans for UAH 1 billion, unchanged from a month earlier.

Regionally, the biggest volume of loans is in Kiev - 2,465 loans for UAH 8.7 billion, as well as Dnepropetrovsk - 1,648 loans for UAH 5.4 billion, Lvov - 1,754 loans for UAH 5.1 billion, the Kiev region - 1,334 loans for UAH 4.5 billion and Kharkov region - 660 loans for UAH 4.5 billion.

Most of the loans partially secured by state guarantees on a portfolio basis by sector are in agriculture - almost 5,000 loans for UAH 29.8 billion, wholesale and retail trade and vehicle repair - 8,900 loans for UAH 19 billion, manufacturing - 3,400 loans for UAH 15.8 billion, transport, warehousing, postal and courier activities - 1,160 loans for UAH 2.5 billion and construction - 552 loans for UAH 1.7 billion.
