Lieksa, Parikkala checkpoints permanently closed on Russian-Finnish border

BERLIN. Oct 24 (Interfax) - The Inari and Parikkala checkpoints on the Russian-Finish border, which suspended operation several years ago, are now permanently closed, Yle said on Thursday, citing the border services.

"The temporary border checkpoints in Parikkala and Lieksa are closed," it said.

Parikkala suspended operation in 2022, while Inari in Lieksa has been closed since 2021.

The Finnish Border Guard said, for its part, that the checkpoints might open in the future, if Moscow and Helsinki agree on that.
