Supplies of Turkmen gas to Russia cease under mutual agreement, prospects under discussion

ASHGABAT. Oct 24 (Interfax) - Supplies of Turkmen gas to Gazprom ceased in the middle of the year under mutual agreement, Murad Archayev, deputy board chairman of Turkmengas state gas concern, told Interfax.

"We have not supplied natural gas to the Russian Federation since the middle of the year under a common, mutual agreement of the parties," Archayev said on the sidelines of the Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan 2024 international conference and exhibition.

Supplies could have totaled around 2.5 billion cubic meters in the six months as based on the annual volume of around 5 bcm.

"I am not able to predict the future during the negotiation process," Archayev said regarding prospects for cooperating in the area of gas supplies.

Archayev also said that Turkmengas expects to produce over 80 bcm of gas in 2024. "Our previous figure last year was over 80 bcm, and we do not expect it to be lower this year, namely 80 [bcm] upward," he said.
