Kazakhstan completes grain harvest, mills 26.5 mln tonnes

ASTANA. Oct 23 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan has completed the grain harvest, milling 26.5 million tonnes, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov said.

"We are reviewing the results of the harvesting campaign, and the work has basically been completed. A good grain harvest has been collected, 26.5 million tonnes have been threshed, and the average yield is 16 centners per hectare," Bektenov said at a government meeting on Wednesday.

The overall harvested area of agricultural crops totals 23.3 million hectares this year.

The grain harvest had previously been projected at 13-14 million tonnes in 2024, and it was later improved to 25 million tonnes.

Kazakhstan's farmers threshed 16.6 million tonnes of grain in 2023, including wheat totaling 12.11 million tonnes, and the average grain yield was 9.7 c/ha. Farmers harvested 21.6 million tonnes of grain in 2022.
