European Parliament to vote on 35 bln euro loan to Ukraine next week - European Parliament president

BRUSSELS. Oct 17 (Interfax) - The proposal on macrofinancial assistance to Ukraine worth up to 35 billion euros will be considered at a plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg on October 22, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola said.

The European Parliament will hold final voting on support to Ukraine with an exclusive macrofinancial assistance loan in an amount of up to 35 billion euros at a plenary session next week, Metsola said in her speech to the European leaders at the EU summit on Thursday.

She later said, responding to questions at a press conference, that "we are sending the clearest of signals" to Kiev by considering in the European Parliament this coming Tuesday of the issue of providing up to 35 billion euros to Ukraine as EU assistance to the$50 billion project of macrofinancial assistance of the G7 states.

According to earlier reports, the European Parliament's Committee on International Trade on October 14 agreed with the proposal of the European Commission to provide a loan to Ukraine worth up to 35 billion euros.
