Ukraine sows 4.75 million ha of winter crops for harvest of 2025

MOSCOW. Oct 15 (Interfax) - Ukrainian farmers have sown 4.75 million hectares of winter crops as of October 15 in comparison to 3.8 million hectares a week ago, Ukrainian media outlets said, citing the press service for the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry.

Winter grains are being sown in all regions, the press service said. Overall, nearly 3.7 million hectares have already been sown. In particular, farmers sowed winter wheat on 3.3 million hectares (2.6 million hectares a week ago), barley on 331,700 hectares (208,700 hectares), rye on 51,600 hectares (45,900 hectares), and rapeseed on one million hectares (986,400 hectares).

According to the ministry, farmers of the Poltava region are leading in the winter grain sowing campaign with 224,500 hectares making up 90.3% of the target, followed by the Ternopol region with 176,000 hectares and 89.3% and the Khmelnitsky region with 213,200 hectares and 88.8%. Farmers in 11 regions have finished sowing winter rapeseed.

As of the same date in 2023, Ukraine sowed 4.5 million hectares of farmland with winter crops, including 3.018 million hectares with wheat, 260,000 hectares with barley, and 63,000 hectares with rye.
