Inflation in Belarus totals 3.8% in January-September

MINSK. Oct 15 (Interfax) - Consumer prices in Belarus increased 0.4% in September 2024 after a decline of 0.1% in August, a slight rise of 0.03% in July, and an increase of 0.6% in June, according to the materials of the National Statistical Committee, Belstat.

Inflation totaled 3.8% in January-September.

Annual inflation totaled 6% in September compared to the same month of 2023 against 6.1% in August, 5.5% in July, and 5.8% in June. Core inflation, excluding regulated and seasonal prices, rose 0.6% month-on-month in September and 4.2% compared to December last year.

Food prices rose 0.5% last month, a 3.7% increase since the beginning of the year; non-food prices also rose 0.5%, a 3.3% increase; and services grew 0.3%, a 4.6% rise.

Inflation decelerated to 5.8% in 2023 from 12.8% in 2022. The authorities plan to limit consumer price growth to 6% in 2024.

Government regulation of prices remains in place for almost all consumer basket goods, as well as for basic services, in Belarus.
