Kazakhstan unveils roadmap to boost petrochemical production five-fold by 2030

ASTANA. Oct 14 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan's government has approved a comprehensive roadmap for the development of the petrochemical industry for 2024-2030, targeting a five-fold increase in production to 1.8 million tonnes, the Energy Ministry said.

This document aims to drive growth in the petrochemical sector and facilitate the implementation of projects in this area. The roadmap sets out plans to boost production from 357,800 tonnes in 2023 to 1.8 million tonnes by 2030 and launch six major projects with an investment of $14.7 billion.

The plan encompasses the construction of essential infrastructure within the National Industrial Oil and Gas Chemical Technopark located in Atyrau, western Kazakhstan. The roadmap seeks to secure markets for petrochemical products, stimulate domestic consumption, and ensure that both existing and new petrochemical projects have access to the necessary raw materials.
