Russia, India discuss Arctic shipbuilding projects at 1st meeting on cooperation in Northern Sea Route

MOSCOW. Oct 11 (Interfax) - Russia and India have discussed joint Arctic shipbuilding projects, Russia's Rosatom said after the first meeting of a working group on cooperation in the Northern Sea Route.

The group met in New Delhi, India, on October 10, Rosatom said. Rosatom special representative for Arctic development Vladimir Panov and Indian Deputy Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Rajesh Kumar Sinha led the national delegations.

The meeting addressed targets for Russian-Indian cargo transit by the Northern Sea Route and the possible training of Indian sailors in polar navigation. The sides also discussed a draft intergovernmental memorandum of mutual understanding on cooperation in shipping by the Northern Sea Route.
