Gazprom exceeds initial plan to supply gas to China by over 1 bcm in 2024 - senior manager
ST. PETERSBURG. Oct 11 (Interfax) - Russian supplies of gas to China via the Power of Siberia pipeline exceed the initial plan by over one billion cubic meters in 2024, Gazprom Deputy Management Board Chairman Vitaly Markelov said at the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum.
Markelov recalled that while Russian gas supplies to Europe have decreased, they have been growing to Central Asia and China.
"We have boosted supplies of gas to China. We plan this year to supply over one billion cubic meters more than Gazprom's contractual obligations to China," Markelov said.
Supplies of Russian gas to China via the Power of Siberia pipeline began in 2019 from the Chayandinskoye field located in the Sakha Republic, or Yakutia. The Kovyktinskoye field in the Irkutsk Region was connected to the system in 2022.
The contractual volume of supplies via the pipeline is 30 bcm in 2024, and the pipeline should reach full export capacity of 38 bcm of gas per year as of December this year.
