Memorandum on possible increase of Russian gas supplies to Hungary signed
ST. PETERSBURG. Oct 10 (Interfax) - A memorandum of understanding has been signed on the possibility of increasing Russian gas supplies to Hungary, Russian gas giant Gazprom said.
The document was signed on Thursday on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum in the presence of Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller and Hungary's Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Peter Szijjarto.
Miller and Szijjarto discussed gas supplies and prospects for cooperation in the gas sector. "The high importance of Russian gas supplies for Hungary's energy security was mentioned," Gazprom said.
Hungary receives natural gas from Russia via the TurkStream pipeline under a long-term contract. A supplement to the agreement has been in effect since the autumn of 2023, allowing it to receive additional volumes.
