KazMunayGas subsidiary, Italy's NextChem to cooperate in sustainable aviation fuel

ASTANA. Oct 10 (Interfax) - KazMunayGas-Aero LLP, which is a subsidiary of Kazakhstan's national oil and gas company KazMunayGas (KMG), and Italy's NextChem have signed an agreement on cooperation in the development of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), KMG said in a press release.

The document was signed during the Kazakhstan-Italy International Forum in Milan on October 8 and will promote initiatives on the transition to new types of energy.

"The parties will cooperate in the production of environmentally friendly SAF and low-carbon hydrogen by capturing carbon dioxide; they will also introduce circular solutions in their production processes. Circular solutions allow for the reuse, recycling and restoration of raw materials, which helps reduce wastes and environmental impact," the press release says.

KazMunayGas-Aero LLP, established in 2014 as a subsidiary of KMG, is the sole operator for the supply of TS-1/RT jet fuel to Kazakhstan's armed forces, and a supplier of gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil and aviation fuel in Kazakhstan.

NextChem, part of Italy-based Maire Tecnimont Group, specializes in development and implementation of technologies for low-carbon and circular processes.
