Hermitage to hold 2 exhibits in Oman in 2025
MOSCOW. Oct 9 (Interfax) - The State Hermitage plans to implement 30 exhibition projects, including exhibitions on the history of duels and the development of the portrait genre, and also open two permanent expositions; the international projects include two exhibits planed in Oman, Svetlana Adaksina, deputy general director of the State Hermitage, said.
Next year, the museum will present 30 exhibition projects in St. Petersburg and outside it and will open two permanent expositions, the Modern Porcelain gallery and the Peter the Great Gallery, Adaksina said at a presentation of the exhibition plans for in the Russian Culture Ministry.
Expositions of estate culture and oriental influences in Russia art will be conducted and a unique collection of early Russian porcelain will be displayed in the new halls of the Peter the Great Gallery. The new exposition of the Modern Porcelain Gallery, which will open in the Main Staff, will include some 150 works created by the Imperial Porcelain Factory.
The large projects scheduled to be held in the Hermitage include an exhibition called To the Barrier! Duels from Achilles to Lifar, which will be held in the Nikolayevsky Hall of the Winter Palace. The exposition will be devoted to the history of duels in Russia and the evolution of various types of weapons from the ancient world to the 19th century.
An exhibition called Gem in Lotus: the Art of Tibet Buddhism, where rare Buddhist sculptures and paintings, including artifacts that belonged to the Russian tsar's family, will open in October.
An exhibition called The Art of Portrait. Personality and Epoch, which will demonstrate the development of the portrait genre throughout more than 4,000 years using the example of portraits in sculpture, graphics, numismatics and photography, is scheduled to be held in late 2025.
The Hermitage is also working on projects timed to the 250th anniversary of the birth of Carl Rossi, the architect of the Main Staff, and the 550th anniversary of the birth of sculptor Michelangelo Buonarroti.
Two exhibitions, titled Neo-Russian Style and Vanguard Porcelain, devoted to art life in Russia at the end of the 19th and at the beginning of the 20th century, are expected to be held abroad, in the National Museum of Oman.
In 2025, the museum will hold several exhibition projects in the regions. Some 120 unique objects reflecting the hunting theme in art and weaponry will be displayed in the Hermitage-Ural Center in Yekaterinburg. An exposition called Five Symbols of Happiness, which will include more than 200 artifacts from the collections of the Oriental Department, will open in the exhibition center Hermitage-Siberia in Omsk. The Primorye State Picture Gallery will host an exhibit devoted to medieval tournaments. The work on the creation of Hermitage centers in Vladivostok and Kaluga will continue.
