Ukraine to send humanitarian aid to Czech Republic to facilitate cleanup efforts after floods

MOSCOW. Oct 9 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian government has ordered that 40 dryers be supplied to the Czech Republic as a contribution to clean-up efforts ongoing in the country's flood-stricken regions.

"For the purpose of helping mitigate the aftermath of the emergency facing the Czech Republic due to floods, the Interior Ministry and the State Emergency Service [of Ukraine] must ensure the delivery and handover of humanitarian aid, i.e. 40 dryers," the government's October 8 order, cited by Ukrainian media, said.

As previously reported, parts of the Czech Republic were inundated as a result of torrential rains caused by Storm Boris in mid-September. Houses were even swept away in several Czech regions on the border with Poland. The death toll from the natural disaster was estimated at eight as of September 16. Thousands were evacuated.
