Kenya hopes for Russian cooperation in gas, agro-industrial, alternative energy sectors
ZHELEZNOVODSK. Oct 7 (Interfax) - Kenya wishes to implement economic projects with Russia in a number of areas, including fuel and energy and agriculture, Kenyan Ambassador to Russia Peter Mutuku Mathuki said.
"I see a great opportunity for developing our relations with Russia. We should take advantage of the prospects that our countries have in a whole range of sectors, such as agriculture and security," Mathuki said during the North Caucasus: New Geostrategic Opportunities forum in Zhelezhnovodsk.
Kenya also sees opportunities for developing cooperation with Russia in solar energy, space technology, education and tourism, he said.
"From the moment I arrived in Russia, I could see how many opportunities are opening up for tourism. We've already discussed how we can improve development in this area. The mutual exchange [of tourists] could help to resolve this issue," he said.
Mathuki singled out cooperation in the gas sector and on solar energy in his speech.
"Another sphere is natural resources, gas. Kenya mostly exports gas and other materials. I would like to focus on this trade between Russia and Kenya," he said.
"It would be a good idea to launch direct flights between Russia and Kenya," he said in addition.
