Georgian president's impeachment procedure initiated again
TBILISI. Oct 7 (Interfax) - The Georgian Dream ruling party has again initiated the impeachment procedure of Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili.
"The impeachment procedure is symbolic, as the next parliament will make the final decision after the October 26 elections," Georgian parliament speaker Shalva Papuashvili said at a press briefing on Monday.
Zourabichvili continues to breach the constitution by foreign visits uncoordinated with the government, he said.
The Georgian presidential election is presumably due in November-December this year.
Georgian Dream unsuccessfully tried to impeach Zourabichvili in October 2023, having accused her of exceeding presidential powers.
