Hevel Energy Group launches Russia's first SPP with solar tracking system in Chechnya
GROZNY. Oct 7 (Interfax) - Hevel Energy Group has launched Russia's first solar power plant (SPP) with a system that tracks the Sun's movement in the Achkhoy-Martanovsky District of Chechnya, the group's press service said.
The tracking system will notably allow the 9.2-MW SPP to boost electricity generation an average of 20%-25% versus the traditional static method of arranging modules.
Investments to implement the project totaled over 1 billion rubles.
"The volume of electricity generation is forecast at 13 million kWh per year, which would ensure an annual reduction of 4,500 tonnes in carbon dioxide emissions," the press service said.
The SPP is located near the village of Samashki on around 18 hectares. The station has around 30,000 highly efficient Russian-manufactured solar modules, and over 90 km of cable lines have been laid.
The press service said that this is already the second SPP in Chechnya. The first was the Naurskaya SPP with capacity of 5 MW.
Hevel commissioned the Naurskaya SPP in the summer of 2021. Investments totaled 500 million rubles. There were also reports in August 2021 that Hevel Energy Group was planning to build a second, more powerful SPP in the Achkhoy-Martanovsky district of Chechnya. Investments at that time were estimated at over 800 million rubles.
Founded in 2009, Hevel Energy Group is Russia's largest energy company operating in the solar energy sector, and is the country's sole vertically integrated solar module manufacturer, according to the group's website. Hevel has implemented over a hundred projects in Russia with total capacity of over 1 GW during its operations.
