Forty-five hotel projects due to be implemented in Ukraine by 2026 - survey
MOSCOW. Oct 3 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian hotel market is planning to implement 45 projects of hotel and apartment complexes and 108 hotel-type cottage compounds in 2024-2026, Ukrainian media said, citing a survey by Ribas Hotels Group.
Some 6,670 hotel and apartment rooms and 3,097 cottages will add to the available accommodations within the next two years, it said.
As of mid-2014, Ukraine had 2,017 functioning hotels, the survey said.
In terms of the number of hotels, the leaders are Optima Hotels (64 hotels), Ribas Hotels Group (21) and Premier Hotels and Resorts (11). Among foreign chains, Accor with nine hotels and Radisson with five maintain the largest presence.
The average occupancy rate of Ukrainian hotels in the first half of 2024 was 34-38%, reaching 60-70% in some regions of western Ukraine (Lvov, Ivano-Frankovsk, and Transcarpathian regions).
The number of collective accommodation facilities has been decreasing by 175 per year on the average since 2013, mostly due to health resorts, resort hotels with treatment, balneological and mud baths resorts, tourist centers, camping sites, recreation centers and resort hotels. At the same time, the number of hotels has grown by 9.1%, motels by 10.7%, and hostels by 28.7%, the survey said.
The tourist flow in Ukraine may increase to 14.5 million people after the crisis, the analysts said. Thus, the current number of rooms will not be able to meet demand. According to Ribas Hotels Group, the potential demand for rooms may be 30%-40% higher than their current number.
According to the analysts, the survey was based on data from the Ukrainian State Statistics Service, the State Agency for Tourism Development, the State Border Guard Service, statistics bureaus of Kiev, Lvov and the Lvov regional state administration, the Odessa, Kharkov and Dnepropetrovsk regions, the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications, the State Register of Immovable Landmarks, the Tourist Service website, and the hotel and statistics aggregators.
