Zelensky meets with NATO secretary general, Vietnamese president
MOSCOW. Sept 25 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has met with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly session, Ukrainian media said on Wednesday.
"During my meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, I thanked him for his support of Ukraine during his term as NATO secretary general," Zelensky said on his Telegram channel.
In addition, the parties discussed ways to boost Ukraine's air defense capabilities and Kiev's movement toward membership in NATO, media outlets said.
Zelensky also met with Vietnamese President To Lam to discuss steps to advance relations between the two countries and increase their bilateral trade.
Stoltenberg will step down as NATO secretary general on October 1 to be succeeded by former Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
