Azerbaijan, IAEA sign program framework for technical cooperation for 2024-2029

BAKU. Sept 25 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi have signed a country program framework for technical cooperation covering the period from 2024 to 2029.

The document was signed on the sidelines of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry's press service said.

"Bayramov said at the meeting that Azerbaijan supports nuclear safety and international cooperation to strengthen it, emphasizing the indispensable role of the IAEA's inspection system in the non-proliferation and peaceful use of nuclear energy," it said.

The country program framework outlines mutual priorities and development needs and interests that will be the focus of the sides' technical cooperation, it said.
