Construction of six river hubs planned by 2027 - Rosmorrechflot head
MOSCOW. Sept 24 (Interfax) - Forming six multimodal logistics centers based at river ports is planned by 2027, Andrei Tarasenko, head of Russia's Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport (Rosmorrechflot), told journalists on the sidelines of the "Maritime Congress".
"We have already started work, and by 2027 we will have about six multimodal centers," Tarasenko said.
According to him, we are talking about the creation of river hubs in Omsk, in the Amur Region, Perm, Saratov, Samara, and Dmitrov in the Moscow Region. Tarasenko also recalled that a transport multimodal hub was recently launched in Sviyazhsk in Tatarstan.
Speaking about the development of river shipping, Tarasenko also announced plans to develop a transit water route along the Irtysh River, which could potentially connect the Russian north with Kazakhstan and China.
Earlier, it was reported that Rosmorrechflot plans to implement river hub projects in four regions of the Russian Federation: Tatarstan, Samara Oblast, Perm and the Moscow Region.
