Russia's Agriculture Ministry not considering extending duty-free quota to import chicken meat for 2025
MOSCOW. Sept 17 (Interfax) - The duty-free quota to import chicken meat to Russia will not be extended for 2025.
"The Russian Agriculture Ministry is constantly monitoring prices for socially significant products, including meat products. The situation is stable, and extending the measure for 2025 is not currently under consideration," the Agriculture Ministry told Interfax in response to a request on the prospects for the duty-free quota to import chicken meat that is currently valid until the end of 2024.
The ministry recalled that the duty-free imports were introduced at the end of last year to stabilize prices. "Chicken prices have fallen while the measure has been in effect. According to Rosstat, the price of chilled and frozen chicken has decreased by 3.7% since the end of 2023," it said.
The quota is 140,000 tonnes, with 97,200 tonnes of it still left and 42,800 tonnes used. Requests have been submitted to import another 4,246 tonnes.
