Kazakh operator KazTemirTrans to buy nearly 1,500 freight cars by end-2024

ALMATY. Sept 17 (Interfax) - KazTemirTrans, a subsidiary of rail transport operator Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), plans to purchase almost 1,500 freight cars by the end of 2024, the company's press service said.

The rail cars will be used to carry various cargos, including grain, coal and others.

The company purchased 65 gondola cars with capacity of up to 70 tonnes in September 2024, and another 65 gondola cars are expected to be delivered in the near future.

The plan for now is to buy the 1,500 freight cars by the end of the year, but the deadline could be extended, the company told Interfax.

KazTemirTrans also bought 242 gondola cars in 2023 and over 25,000 cars in the past ten years.

KazTemirTrans is Kazakhstan's freight car fleet operator.
