Roscosmos, NASA to discuss ISS cooperation in Moscow on Sept 17-19

MOSCOW. Sept 16 (Interfax) - The joint commission of the Roscosmos advisory and expert council and the NASA advisory committee on the International Space Station (ISS) will hold a meeting in Moscow on September 17-19, Russia's Cosmonaut Training Center said.

"A meeting of the joint commission of the Roscosmos advisory and expert council and the NASA advisory committee on the ISS will take place in Moscow on September 17-19, 2024," the Cosmonaut Training Center said on its Telegram channel on Monday.

According to information published on the website of Roscosmos's TsNIIMash Central Research Institute of Machine-Building, the aim of the commission's work is to identify problem areas that affect the safety and the effectiveness of the joint Russian-U.S. manned spaceflight program, analyze these issues, and work out recommendations on how to deal with them.

The commission consists of specialists from rocket and space enterprises, research centers, Russian Academy of Sciences institutions, and Roscosmos cosmonauts, as well as representatives of U.S. space centers, leading firms, NASA offices and U.S. astronauts.

"Joint meetings of the commission are held at least twice a year in Russia and the U.S. Their results are presented to the heads of the Roscosmos state space corporation and NASA. In addition, issues of concern and joint documents are discussed at weekly teleconferences and meetings of NASA's representatives in Russia and the Russian members of the joint commission," TsNIIMash said.
