Russian Security Council secretary meets with N. Korean leader in Pyongyang
MOSCOW. Sept 13 (Interfax) - Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu visited North Korea and met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Pyongyang on September 13, the Russian Security Council said on Friday.
"A delegation led by Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu visited Pyongyang on September 13. A substantive exchange of views on a broad range of regional and international issues was conducted with Korean colleagues in furtherance of the strategic dialogue between our countries," the council said in a statement on its website.
"Shoigu was received by DPRK Chairman of State Affairs, Comrade Kim Jong Un," the statement said.
According to the statement, the meetings were held in a trusting, friendly atmosphere in the context of the agreements reached by the two heads of state during Russian President Vladimir Putin's state visit to Pyongyang in June 2024.
"They will make an important input in the implementation of provisions of the bilateral treaty on comprehensive strategic partnership, signed by them," the statement said.
