Lavrov to meet with ICRC president in Moscow on Sept 17, address UNGA session on Sept 28 - Russian Foreign Ministry
MOSCOW. Sept 11 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will meet with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) president and will deliver a speech at the UN General Assembly session in New York in September, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said.
"International Committee of the Red Cross President Mirjana Spoljaric is due to arrive in Russia to attend the 4th Eurasian Women's Forum. It will take place in St. Petersburg on September 18-20. Spoljaric will visit Moscow prior to the forum. Her meeting with Foreign Minister of Russia Sergei Lavrov has been scheduled for September 17," Zakharova said at a press briefing on Wednesday.
"A wide range of issues related to humanitarian response in different regions of the world are on the agenda," she said.
"The program of the ICRC president's visit includes meetings with representatives of other government and civil agencies, as well as with the administration of the Russian Red Cross," she said.
Lavrov will also lead the Russian delegation to the UN General Assembly session and is due to deliver a speech at the assembly's High-Level Week on September 28, Zakharova said.
"The Russian foreign minister will also take part in a number of events on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, including those of BRICS and the G20," she said.
"As is traditional, a whole series of bilateral contacts has been planned, including a meeting with the UN secretary-general," Zakharova said.
