Kazakhstan strengthens control over gasoline and diesel exports
ASTANA. Sept 10 (Interfax) - Ministries and agencies in Kazakhstan have been asked to tighten control over petroleum product exports at border checkpoints to prevent a shortage on the domestic market, and the Energy Ministry to update the list of petroleum products allowed for export, the government press service said.
First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar chaired a meeting that discussed problems with the supply of fuel and petroleum products to the domestic market.
"The meeting discussed the current situation on the market and noted a significant increase in the consumption of RON-92 and RON-95 gasoline and diesel fuel in the southern regions of the country. This situation is mainly caused by [disproportionate] flows and gray exports [of petroleum products] due to a disparity in prices in Kazakhstan and the neighboring states," the press release says.
Furthermore, petroleum products that are in high demand have been recently seen to be exported as goods belonging to other export categories.
