Azerbaijan boosts gas exports 3.1% YoY in 8M 2024 - Energy Minister
BAKU. Sept 10 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan boosted gas exports 3.1% year-on-year to 16.4 billion cubic meters in January-August 2024, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov posted on social media.
Shahbazov said that Azerbaijan delivered 8.4 bcm of gas, or 51% of total exports, to Europe in the period.
Azerbaijan exported 6.5 bcm of gas, or 40% overall, to Turkey, 3.7 bcm via the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) in the reporting period; and 1.5 bcm, or 9% overall, to Georgia in the period.
Azerbaijan is also reportedly projected to export 25 bcm of gas overall in 2024, with 13 bcm planned for shipment to Europe.
Azerbaijan boosted gas exports 5.3% year-on-year to 23.8 bcm in 2023, including a rise of 3.5% year-on-year to 11.8 bcm to Europe.
Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Serbia, Slovenia, and Croatia are current buyers of Azerbaijani gas in Europe. Moreover, negotiations are underway with at least three additional European countries to purchase Azerbaijani gas. Turkey and Georgia also buy Azerbaijani gas.
