Inter RAO might participate in coal power project in Uzbekistan

TASHKENT. Sept 10 (Interfax) - Russian energy company Inter RAO might participate in a coal power generation project in Uzbekistan, Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev told reporters.

There is a "new project to develop mining and processing of coal and production of electricity based on coal," he said. "We have also agreed that we will quickly work all this out together."

Asked what companies are interested in participating in this project, Tsivilev said there is "Inter RAO at this point."

The project is still at the exploration stage, he said. "The most important thing is that all parties are prepared to sign a memorandum in order to quickly work this out," Tsivilev said.

Inter RAO management board member Alexandra Panina said in February that the company was exploring the possibility of exporting electricity to Uzbekistan.

Inter RAO's principal shareholder at the end of 2023 was state company Rosneftegaz with 26.37%, while Inter RAO Capital held 29.56% of stock. At the end of 2021, PJSC Federal Grid Company - Rosseti (formerly FGC UES , now merged with Rosseti) owned 8.57% of Inter RAO and the free float was 34.24%.
