Russia sees prospects for industrial cooperation with Uzbekistan - PM Mishustin

TASHKENT. Sept 9 (Interfax) - The Russian side is seeing prospects for cooperation with Uzbekistan in industrial cooperation, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said as he opened the fifth session of the joint Russian-Uzbek commission at the level of prime ministers.

"The deepening of industrial cooperation and the expansion of export-import chains are promising," Mishustin said.

Russian businesses are actively investing in Uzbekistan's economy. There are 3,000 enterprises with Russian participation in the country, he said.

"They are involved in projects in key areas, which include the light, chemical and mining industries, metallurgy, the car-making and aircraft industries, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, digital solutions and others. The energy partnership is progressing successfully. Including deliveries of natural gas, oil and petroleum products from Russia to Uzbekistan. We are putting cooperation on the peaceful atom with participation by Rosatom into practice," he said.

"Russian retailers and e-commerce companies are rapidly enhancing presence in the Uzbek market," he said.

"We propose developing other areas, too. We are looking into organizing high-tech production of polymers, localizing the manufacture of civil unmanned aviation systems and their components. It has been decided in principle to set up manufacturing facilities in Uzbekistan in the field of railway engineering," he said.

Uzbekistan's participation in Eurasian integration can provide additional advantages for business, thanks to the opening of new sales markets and the creation of conditions for fair competition, Mishustin said.
