Saudi crown prince invited to BRICS summit in Russia - Lavrov

RIYADH. Sept 9 (Interfax) - Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman has been invited to attend a BRICS summit due to take place in Kazan in October, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has the invitation, and we discussed it at the meeting today, we discussed preparations for the summit," Lavrov told journalists in Riyadh.

"I am certain that it will be a successful event," he said.

The meeting with the Saudi crown prince "included a lengthy discussion on all key areas of our joint work aimed at implementing the agreements reached between the leaders of Saudi Arabia and the Russian Federation, including at President [Vladimir] Putin's in-person meetings with the king and the crown prince in December of last year," Lavrov said.

"Apart from the bilateral agenda, we also discussed the tasks facing us in light of the ongoing international developments. Both sides strongly reaffirmed their commitment to the process that is now objectively unfolding in the context of the new multipolar world order, which will have no hegemons or dictators and which will obey the key principle of the UN Charter - sovereign equality of all states," he said.
