Belarus reinstates export duties on some oil products
MINSK. Sept 4 (Interfax) - The Belarusian government has decided to reinstate export duties on a number of oil products exported to countries outside the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
Under a cabinet resolution (No. 636) dated August 30, 2024 that was posted on the national legal website on Tuesday, the export duty will be $20.80 per tonne for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and $18.70 per tonne for ethane, butane and isobutane as of September 1.
The duty rate will remain zero for other products. Belarus reduced export duties on oil, bitumen, fuel and a number of other oil products to zero in February.
Belarus has been harmonizing export duty rates for crude oil and oil products with those in Russia since 2010, taking into account duty-free imports of crude from Russia. Under agreements within the EAEU, all revenue from export duties on crude and oil products have been going into the Belarusian budget since 2015.
