DTEK invests 17 bln hryvni in coal production in Ukraine since late Feb 2022

MOSCOW. Aug 29 (Interfax) - DTEK Energo has invested 17 billion hryvni of own funds in Ukrainian coalmines since late February 2022, Ukrainian media said, citing the energy holding's press release.

"Investments were made in the construction and repair of mine workings, the equipment of coal faces, the installation of tunneling equipment, the provision of mine transport, and projects supporting production capacities," the press release said.

The investment helps maintain sufficient fuel reserves for thermal power plants' operation in winter and during peaks in electricity consumption, and continue preparations for the next heating season, it said.

"We channel all resources available into repairs and reconstruction of thermal power plants and their provision with proper fuel reserves," DTEK Energo General Director Ildar Saleyev said.

DTEK Energo miners plan to commission 27 coal faces in 2024. Eleven have been commissioned since the year beginning, and the commissioning of another 16 is due in August-December.

The company commissioned 26 coal faces last year.
