Ukrainian agricultural sector produces 19% of GDP, exports 70% of agricultural products - acting minister of agrarian policy and food

MOSCOW. Aug 27 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian agricultural sector made a breakthrough in 2010-2021: it employs 17% of the population, which produces 19% of the GDP, while 70% of products are exported, which is one of the highest indicators in Europe, Ukrainian media said, citing acting Agrarian Policy and Food Minister Taras Vysotsky's statement at the national educational and professional course for the young, "State: the Path to State Restoration."

Ukrainian products are sufficient for feeding about 400 million people, he said.

"Ukraine plays a crucial role in the global food security," Vysotsky said.

Ukraine traditionally exports grain and oilseeds, it ranks the world's fourth by corn exports, first by sunflower oil exports and seventh by poultry exports. Ukrainian dairy producers are among the top ten leaders in butter exports. Ukraine ranks fourth in walnut production and is one of the world leaders in honey exports, Vysotsky said.
