Over 5,000 Ukrainians sent abroad for medical treatment since start of crisis - Health Ministry

MOSCOW. Aug 26 (Interfax) - Since the start of the crisis, 5,234 Ukrainians have been sent abroad for medical treatment, Ukrainian media reported with reference to the Health Ministry.

Ukrainian patients have been transported abroad for receiving medical treatment on a weekly basis since the start of the crisis, the ministry said.

"Over this time, as part of cooperation between the Health Ministry and the European Commission, with support from the World Health Organization, governments of European countries, and numerous partners, 5,234 patients have been sent abroad on board of special medical transport," it said.

Ukrainian patients have been admitted to medical establishments of over 30 countries, including Austria, Denmark, Germany, Norway, Poland, Lithuania, France, and others, it said.

The countries that have admitted most of Ukrainian patients for treatment include Germany (1,293), Poland (427), and Norway (378), it said.
