Moldovan president diagnosed with Covid-19

CHISINAU. Aug 26 (Interfax) - Moldovan President Maia Sandu said on Monday that she has been diagnosed with Covid-19.

"Unfortunately, I will be unable to attend the events [marking Moldova's Independence Day on August 27] due today and tomorrow. Regretfully, I have been diagnosed with Covid-19. I am fine and asymptomatic, but more tired than usual," Sandu said in a video address on a social network.

She said she would have to self-isolate for several days.

There has been a spike in Covid-19 cases in Moldova in the past two weeks. The growth exceeded 60% on August 12-18. The National Agency for Public Health said that 2,213 Covid-19 cases were recorded in Moldova over the week. The Emergency Medicine Institute recommended wearing masks in public areas.
