Rome Statute ratification bill signed into law in Ukraine

MOSCOW. Aug 26 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has signed a bill on ratification of the Rome Statute into law, Ukrainian media said, citing the Ukrainian parliament website.

The law takes effect on the day after its publishing.

The Ukrainian parliament ratified the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court on August 21 with the reservation that "it shall not, for a period of seven years after the entry into force of the Rome Statute, recognize the jurisdiction of the ICC over its nationals for crimes defined by Article 8 of the Rome Statute (war crimes)."

The explanatory note to the Rome Statute ratification bill says that will allow Ukraine to become a full member of the International Criminal Court.
