Belgian development agency Enabel to open office in Kiev

MOSCOW. Aug 23 (Interfax) - The Belgian development agency Enabel will open its representative office in Kiev to help Ukrainian institutions and other entities restore and maintain the operations of the country's critical and social infrastructure, Ukrainian media said, citing the press service for the Kiev city administration.

"The Belgians plan to help our country implement projects aimed at restoring and maintaining the sustainability of critical and social infrastructure facilities, including through all-round programs to update heating systems, ensure heat supply and provide equipment to medical, social and educational establishments," the Kiev city administration's first deputy head Nikolai Povoroznik said after a meeting with Enabel representatives.

Enabel will be working directly with Ukrainian institutions and entities and in coordination with the government. The office is now hiring its staff, which will include Belgian and Ukrainian specialists.

The Enabel development agency is in charge of the Belgian government's international cooperation programs. In cooperation with international partners, the agency offers solutions to urgent global problems, such as climate change, urbanization, human mobility, peace and security, economic and social inequality. Enabel pursues some 170 projects in 20 countries.
