Beloyarsk NPP restarts power unit 3 after scheduled maintenance
YEKATERINBURG. Aug 21 (Interfax) - Beloyarsk Nuclear Power Plant in Russia's Sverdlovsk region has connected power unit 3 (BN-600) to the grid after scheduled maintenance, the plant said on Telegram.
"The Beloyarsk NPP third power unit is coming out of scheduled maintenance. A check of the safety valves will begin with the release of clean steam into the atmosphere in the near future," it said.
The work began on July 5 and involved scheduled equipment maintenance and refueling.
Unit 4 is operating at rated capacity.
The Beloyarsk NPP went into service in April 1964. It generates around 16% of the Sverdlovsk region's electricity. The plant's first two units, light water graphite AMB-100 and AMB-200 reactors, have been permanently shut down. The third and fourth units are fast neutron BN-600 and BN-800 reactors, which were connected to the grid in 1980 and 2015, respectively.
